Google Cloud Platform is a type of public cloud computing services that is offered by Google. This unique platform includes general hosting services for compute, storage and application development that runs on Google hardware. This platform can be accessed by a wide range of professionals including software developers, cloud administrators and other enterprise IT population over the public internet or through a dedicated network connection.
This cloud includes a set of physical assets, but totally in virtual environment such as computers and hard disk drives, and virtual resources, such as virtual machines (VMs),  which are located at Google Data Centre’s across the world.
Each data center location is sub-divided into different regions and these regions are available in continents such as Asia, Australia, Europe, North America, and South America. Each region is further divided into different Zones, which are then isolated from each other within the region. Each zone is in itself identified by a separate name that combines a letter identifier with the name of the region. This unique way of distribution of resources provides several benefits to Cloud users that  includes redundancy in case of failure and also low latency by locating all resources much closer to clients.
